SYNOPSIS

Marvin Blom, u judge retired on sabbatical, would live quite happily alone if it wasn't for his unruly neighbor, yoga instructor Esther Carlson who finds him a pitiful pedantic grump, and her jogging-disruptive friendly dog Max. Marvin's life is truly shaken when his daughter Julia Bergen, whose mother kept her secret from a one-night-stand until adulthood, suddenly invited herself indefinitely with her brat Nina, having become homeless by canceling a rented apartment to move in with Julia's adulterous lover and boss, then finding out he stays with his wife and resigning without alternative prospects. Julia is hospitalized, leaving Marvin stuck with his unruly granddaughter and forced to accept help from Esther.
