SYNOPSIS

The concluding part of the documentary follows the days of fighting that followed the D-Day landings. As the beaches were secured, French civilians and resistance members gathered around radios to hear news of their liberation. However, the Allied advance to Paris proved slower and more difficult than anticipated and, as the testimony of those involved reveals, Normandy turned out to pay a huge price for its country's freedom.
