SYNOPSIS

The only physical clue in the mysterious murder of a used-book dealer leads to a petty henchman, unlikely to do such a serious job, but who has ties with Paddy Doyle. When Jane goes ask him, he requests to see Maura, who agrees before he is transferred to a California maximum-security prison. The owner's ex-con assistant proves reformed and innocent. No loot seems taken, the safe is empty, but a hiding place contains a fake valuable first edition, which expert professor McTavish finds no further clues in, unlike Maura. Angela decides to start fresh with her life, by quitting her job at the cafe and breaking up with surprisingly understanding Cavanaugh.
