The people of Britain spend £2.3billion every year on over-the-counter medicines for common ailments. But are they really worth the money? Chris van Tulleken presents stunts aimed at revealing how some of the most popular medicines work, investigates whether home remedies can do the trick just as well and finds out which are the most popular. He also explains the causes of common afflictions and seeks the truth behind long-held myths, including whether curry does cause indigestion and if honey and lemon really is just as effective as cough syrup.
