SYNOPSIS

Writer and curator Morgan Quaintance examines the lives and careers of Sudanese modernist painter Ibrahim El-Salahi and Benin artist Meschac Gaba, who are the subjects of exhibitions at London's Tate Modern this summer. Quaintance hears their extraordinary personal stories and learns of the struggle for recognition for African artists in the West that spans six decades.
