SYNOPSIS

Deseci tisuća ljudi skrivaju se u samostanima i crkvama glavnoga grada Italije. Šuška se da će Vatikan ubrzo odustati od svoje neutralne pozicije, ali papa se ne da smesti u svojim planovima, te nastavlja vršiti pritisak na glavnoga generala u Rimu. Davide je na sigurnome, u samostanu, ali neće imati mira sve dok ne nađe Miriam. Njemačke zapovjedničke snage pak u međuvremenu kuju plan da otmu papu i na taj način u korijenu srežu mrežu potpore Židovima. Sveta stolica mu stoga predloži da napusti grad, ali Pio za to ne želi ni čuti. Marco se pridružuje partizanima na ulici.
