SYNOPSIS

Dobitnik Nobelove nagrade za književnost 2006. Orhan Pamuk najčitaniji je turski pisac na svijetu. Rodio se u Istanbulu 1952. U svojim romanima "Crna knjiga", "Novi život" i "Snijeg" istražuje melankoličnu dušu svog rodnog grada. Njegova djela prevedena su na 61 jezik. Iskorištava svoju svjetsku slavu da progovori o najvećim tabu temama turskog društva. Godine 2005. priznao je genocid nad Armencima zbog čega su ga optužili da namjerno vrijeđa turski identitet. Nešto poslije, 2013. godine, podupro je prosvjede na Trgu Taksim.
Premda je u sukobu s vlašću zbog svojih stajališta, i dalje živi u zgradi u kojoj je odrastao u Istanbulu. Njegov prvi roman "Dževdet-beg i njegovi sinovi" objavljena je 1982.
