SYNOPSIS

Iako je Šri Lanka ponajprije plodna poljoprivredna zemlja, mnogo ljudi na prenaseljenem jugozapadu prisiljeno je preživljavati od mora. Njihovi ttradicionalni ribarski brodovi oruwe dijelom su sašiveni kokosovim užetima. U selu Weligama ribari satima love s prečki motki zabodenih 50 m od obale. Darežljivo more osim hrane daje i građevni materijal: prženjem drobljenog mrtvog koralja dobivaju kredu.
