Synopsis:

Strast, ambicije i izdaja sudaraju se u ovoj snažnoj drami o počecima nečuvene četrdesetogodišnje vladavine kralja Henrika VIII. Mladi je Henrik VIII. (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) stupio na prijestolje s devetnaest godina. Mladoga vladara baš i ne zanimaju državnička pitanja pa službene poslove prepušta moćnomu kardinalu Thomasu Wolseyju (Sam Neill), dok se engleski kralj posvećuje vlastitim prohtjevima. Svima onima u Henrikovom užem krugu, koji uključuje kardinala Wolseyja, Henrikovu drugu ženu Anne Boleyn (Nathalie Dormer), katoličkoga mučenika sir Thomasa Morea (Jeremy Northam) i Vojvodu od Norfolka (Henry Czerny), posebno je zahtjevno ostati u milosti sebičnoga kralja.
