SYNOPSIS

The communist ethos of an ant hill is a hefty subject for this animated fantasy adventure from the Jimmy Neutron team. Moody ten-year-old Lucas finds himself reduced to the size of the ants that he's been pestering when the local colony decide to get their own back. Then, with the help of kindly mentor Hova (voiced by Julia Roberts), Lucas has to learn to work with the insects rather than against them if he's ever to be returned to his natural size. Sadly, in a film that's been so lovingly animated and acutely observed, the message is too overt to be entertaining. And, after the far superior Antz and A Bug's Life, and the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids franchise, little here seems fresh or appealing.
