SYNOPSIS

The psychopathic preacher Harry Powell (Robert Mitchum) tries to get his fellow inmate Ben Harper, who has been sentenced to death, to reveal the whereabouts of the $10,000 he stole. Not succeeding he courts Ben’s widow Willa (Shelley Winters) after his release.
