SYNOPSIS

Acclaimed photographer Lauren Greenfield went inside a treatment center to tell the stories of four women who are literally dying to be thin. This documentary reveals what she found there - and explores the issues underlying their illness.
The statistics are sobering: Eating disorders affect five million people in the U.S., and more than 10% of those diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa will die from the disease. In this verité documentary, acclaimed photographer Lauren Greenfield enters the halls of the Renfrew Center in Coconut Creek, Florida to document the faces behind these numbers. The result is a moving piece about the struggles with eating and weight – and the deeper issues that lie at the core of women who are, literally, dying to be thin.
