A Bell for Adano

SYNOPSIS

US Army Major Joppolo faces problems when he is put in charge of a small town in Sicily at the end of WWII. In spite of suspicion bred by the previous fascist regime, he gradually wins the cooperation of the citizens, and prevents the lynching of the former fascist mayor - but deals firmly with others who have backed Mussolini. Food is a major problem but even more urgent is the town's request for a new church bell.
