SYNOPSIS

Zurich, 1989. A dutiful policeman is tasked with gathering information on the city's left-wing theatre people. But soon he falls in love with the actress Odile, whom he is supposed to monitor. More and more he begins to doubt his mission.
In 1989, Switzerland was shocked by a scandal that today seems almost forgotten: over 700.000 people were monitored for their political convictions. Set against this historical background of the secret files scandal, the zealous policeman Viktor Schuler is sent to the Zurich Schauspielhaus by his superior to observe the left-wing theatre scene. He soon succumbs to the charm of the chaotic life of an artist. He falls in love with the actress Odile Lehmann, whom he is supposed to monitor. More and more he begins to doubt his mission.
