Although Walt Disney himself, on the film's release, personally thanked King Brian of Knocknasheega (played by Jimmy O'Dea) for his assistance in completing this slice of whimsy, the entire picture was shot in Hollywood. However, the Ould Oirishry is laid on with a trowel as tall-tale teller extraordinaire Albert Sharpe does a deal with the leprechauns (led by King Brian) to ensure daughter Janet Munro's happiness with the tongue-tied Sean Connery. Although Connery looks a little uneasy at having to sing, the performances are largely fine. But this is all about special effects, ranging from the mischievous imps on horseback to the terrifying arrival of the ghostly Costa Bower or Death Coach.
