In 1950s Hollywood, magic is legal and everyone uses it except for Philip Lovecraft. He has been hired by starlet Kim to uncover the reason for her stalled career. Suddenly her studio mogul died. And prime suspect? Lovecraft's best friend.
The year is 1953. The place, a Hollywood few remember. Magic is no longer just in the movies, it'spart of everyday life. Private Detective Phillip Lovecraft, one of the few who doesn't use magic, is onthe case. Sexy starlet Kim Hudson has hired him to uncover the reason for her stalled career. Hudson's sureher studio mogul husband, N.J. Gotlieb, has found someone else to take her place on screen and off. ButGotlieb turns up dead before Lovecraft can catch him in the act. His friend, licensed witch Hypolita Kropotkin,is the prime suspect.With Senator Larson Crockett and his Congressional Committee on Unnatural Activities in town tounearth the evil roots of magic, Lovecraft's got his hands full.
