Like Band of Brothers, The Pacific chronicles World War II. This time, the focus will shift from the European to the Pacific theater. The series will follow real-life journeys of three U.S. Marines from the USA's entrance into World War II.
Based on true stories, THE PACIFIC is an epic ten-part miniseries that tracks the intertwined odysseys of three U.S. Marines - Robert Leckie (James Badge Dale), Eugene Sledge (Joe Mazzello) and John Basilone (Jon Seda) - across the vast canvas of the Pacific Theater during World War II. These men, along with other Marines, are tracked from their first battle on Guadalcanal in 1942, through the rain forests of Cape Gloucester and strongholds of Peleliu, across the bloody sands of Iwo Jima and Okinawa and, finally, to their triumphant but uneasy return home after V-J Day in 1945. The Pacific is executive produced by Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Gary Goetzman, the team behind the Emmy®- and Golden Globe-winning 2001 HBO miniseries Band of Brothers. Hanks and Goetzman also executive produced the 2008 HBO miniseries John Adams, which won a record 13 Emmys®.
