OPIS
The author of the production is the director Edward Sutherland, known for many memorable images of pre-war cinema, incl. "Crazy Hearts" (1929), "Everyday Holiday" (1937), "Christmas Eve" (1940). One of the two main characters in "Flip and Flap in the Foreign Legion" learns that his great love Georgette (Jean Parker) is actually already married, so his further advances miss the point. Consequently, Flap (Olivier Hardy) sees no need to continue living and jumps into the river, wanting to commit suicide. Flap is unlucky because he is saved from death by officer Francois (Reginald Gardiner). To make matters worse, the man turns out to be the husband of his beloved Georgette. The officer urges Flap as well as Flip (Stan Laurel) to join the Foreign Legion together. Men quickly learn that military discipline is not for them. An escape plan sprouts in their heads. When the opportunity arises, the heroes of the film "Flip and Flap in the Foreign Legion" decide to desert.
