The Worst Person in The World is a modern dramedy about the quest for love and meaning in contemporary Oslo. It chronicles four years in the life of Julie (Reinsve), a young woman who navigates the troubled waters of her love life and struggles to find her career path, leading her to take a realistic look at who she really is.
It’s about a young woman who is trying to find her place in the world. We see her trying different jobs, having different boyfriends, questioning what she wants and what others are expecting for her. The film is divided in 12 chapters and it is not slow or contemplative. It’s actually a great portrait of a woman and some chapters are really fun while others are more emotional.
Joachim Trier’s Cannes drama “The Worst Person In The World” was premiered at this years Cannes Film Festival. After taking a turn into genre territory with Thelma (2017) and a trip to Upstate New York in Louder Than Bombs (2015), Norwegian writer-director Joachim Trier lands back on familiar ground for his latest feature, once again chronicling the joys, sorrows, love affairs and ensuing deceptions of Oslo’s bourgeois-bohemian class.
