Elmar Kern doesn't like change. After the death of his wife, the 69-year-old lacks any drive to start over. But that is exactly what Marlene foresaw - and came up with something for him while he was alive to get him out of his comfort zone of grief: a dog as a loyal companion and a detailed program that she posthumously gave Elmar in recorded video messages. For her sake, the widower agrees to everything - even dance lessons, where he meets the course instructor Anna. Marlene's last business decision, to join the cozy optician's shop of all things with the sales-oriented chain "Weitblick", puzzles him. Suddenly Elmar has to subordinate himself to the regional manager Frank and even complete a training course including an exam just to be able to continue his own business. What bothers the otherwise level-headed businessman the most is the dashing manner and rough tone of his new boss. However, when Elmar finds out why the father of the family, Frank, is secretly staying the night in the branch, the fronts break up. Because the opponents are not only connected by the dog, which follows both as master.
