Oronzo Canà, coach of the legendary Longobarda football team, albeit reluctantly, has not coached for several years. Now he has a farm and produces olive oil together with his ever-aristocratic wife Mara. One evening the former coach is invited to a sports broadcast. Longobarda has just been promoted to Serie A, not for sporting merits, but for financial defaults of its direct competitor and Canà has been invited as a witness to the "mythical" Longobarda of twenty years earlier.

During the talk show, a journalist recalls that at the time, despite Canà having managed to save the team from relegation, he was sacked. Cornered, Canà reveals the real reason for that exemption: he disobeyed a request from the old president Borlotti, who wanted to be relegated to Serie B because he could not bear the costs of Serie A.

With this statement, Canà becomes the first direct witness of uncomfortable truths about football. Unexpectedly Borlotti and Ramenko, his Russian partner, offer him to coach the team in the next Serie A championship, to give himself an image of honesty. Canà accepts and moves, full of enthusiasm, to Northern Italy. His dream has come true: he will return to coach the legendary Longobarda.

More of the humour of Banfi is evident and he is joined by Biagio Izzo and Andrea Roncato. There are many little comedic gems, including the Japanese imported player's manner and the young Brazilian star who joins the team. A cameo by the late great Little Tony is hilarious as Cana thinks he has signed Luca Toni to join his squad, only to realise he signed Little Tony to perform at a particular nightclub. Very enjoyable movie.
