SYNOPSIS
In June 1946, Bikini Atoll in the Pacific was designated as a testing ground for Operation Crossroads. It is the beginning of a devastating series of nuclear weapons tests. Hundreds of photographers and camera teams are to capture the detonations of the bombs in order to provide scientists with new insights into their destructive potential - and to produce image films. The US government carelessly gives survival tips in advertising clips and the mushroom cloud even becomes a symbol of pop culture at times.
