Its the summer of 1846, and the ailing Frederick Chopin spends another day in George Sands country house in Nohant. They both feel their love has gone, but Sand asks Chopin to not let it show before her numerous friends whom she has invited over for a party. Among the celebrities present are the painter Eugene Delacroix, the opera singer Pauline Viardot and her lover, the Russian writer Ivan Turgenev. Sands daughter Solange knows the truth about her mother and the composer and uses the situation to try and win Chopins heart.
