SADRŽAJ
Determined to escape from the wrong side of the tracks, where her mother is a woman of easy virtue and her father a drunk, Ginger Rogers finds love and respectability with decent Joel McCrea - until he meets her family, that is - in this melodrama from director Gregory La Cava. It was quite daring within the censorious climate of the time, although it compromises its attempt at dramatic realism with a predictably sentimental, romantic outcome. It's interesting enough, though, thanks to La Cava's solid direction and the convincing cast. Marjorie Rambeau earned an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress as Ginger's mother.
