SINOPSIS
More than 300,000 veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars have reported symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Poster Girl follows one of them, Robynn Murray on her journey to reclaim her humanity after facing the brutalities of war.
This film documents the story of Robynn Murray, an all-American high-school cheerleader turned "poster girl" for women in combat - now home from Iraq and struggling with the debilitating effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). While deployed in Iraq as a machine gunner, Murray's image landed on the cover of Army magazine, but after losing friends in combat and being ordered to point her rifle gun at civilians, she quickly became disillusioned with the Army. Returning home to Buffalo, NY, Robynn had to cope with the "monster" she felt she had become, while navigating the complicated Veterans Affair's system to obtain disability benefits for her PTSD. Poster Girl is an emotionally raw documentary that follows Robynn over the course of two years as she embarks on a journey of self-discovery and redemption.
