Upper-class novelist Hubbell Gardiner and Jewish political activist Katie Morosky meet at college in the 1930s and later marry. Although very much in love, their opposing political outlooks lead to conflict when Hubbell's successful career as a Hollywood screenwriter is compromised by his wife's socialist leanings. As the 1950s dawn it becomes clear their differences are too great to overcome. Romantic drama, with Robert Redford, Barbra Streisand, Bradford Dillman and Murray Hamilton.
